Everyone around us is seen getting ready for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations filled with excitement, joy, love, and respect for our beloved Ganpati Bappa. Right from ordering the online Eco-Ganesha, preparing delicious sweets and food items, to cleaning the house and decorations, and so much more. Marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, this auspicious and wonderful Ganesh Chaturthi festival that brings happiness, good luck, prosperity, and joy to your life is coming up shortly!!
Celebrated all over the world, this 10-day festival commemorating the elephant-head Lord Ganesha is observed from the 7th of September 2024 to 16th of September 2023. Moreover, Ganpati Bappa, who is also known as "The Remover of Obstacles", i.e., Vighnaharta when worshipping at home, needs one to follow the right steps in the right way, thereby preserving its sanctity.
Let us give our best efforts to please our favorite Ganpati Bappa and make him feel special at our homes. Below is the complete guide that will explain to you every single step of the Ganesh Sthapana Vidhi and also the Ganesh Sthapana Muhurat or the accurate timing for the same. But before the Sthapana of the Ganesh idol, you need to get ready with the preparations to make the festival memorable. Have a look.
● Ordering online Eco-Ganesha
This year, you can celebrate eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi with 6 INCH Manomay Eco-Friendly Ganpati, 7 INCH Tejaswi Eco-Friendly Ganpati, or even the 8 INCH Dagdusheth Eco-Friendly Ganesha from the online shopping store. To take a note; one needs to ensure that the trunk of the Ganesh idol is tilted to the left and not the right, as the latter one is hard to please.
● Get home Pooja Samagri
No Ganesh Puja is complete without a set of items like coconut, betel nut, Panchamrut, Gangajal, ghee, Kumkum, Akshat, Janeu, cardamom, camphor, red cloth, Durva, and others. Collect every single item just before you begin the Sthapana of Lord Ganesh idol.
● Cleaning of the house and decorations
The next most important thing you need to do before welcoming Ganpati Bappa home is to dust and clean every inch of your house thoroughly. Make sure that the area where the idol of the Lord is to be placed is purified with holy Ganga water. Once cleaning is done, place the altar or chowki, add backdrop decoratives, floral items, Urlis, or create a theme-based decoration.
Some families have Ganpati for 1.5 days, 3 days, 7 days, or even for 10 complete days. Wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and follow the below steps for Ganesha Sthapana At Home.
● Installing Chowki and adding embellishments
Before you get ready to perform the Ganesh Sthapana vidhis, all you need to do is to place the chowki on which the idol is to be placed. Decorate the same chowki with a red cloth, fill a brass Kalash with water with coconut and betel leaves covering its mouth.
● Placing the Ganpati idol
Once done with the above process, bathe the idol with Panchamrut and Gangajal. Then place this idol on the chowki with a red cloth. Symbolizing Riddhi and Siddhi, you can also keep betel nuts on either side of the idol. Always make sure that the Ganpati idol is seated in the North-East, North, or East direction and avoid placing it in the South, South-East, or South-West direction.
● Offering flowers and Bhog
Adorn the beautiful idol of Ganpati Bappa with a sacred thread, known as Janeu, which should be diagonally placed over the left shoulder and under the right arm. Then, apply a tilak of sandalwood paste on the forehead, and offer a garland of fresh flowers, hibiscus, Durva grass, Ladoo, and Modak to Lord Ganesha. Light the lamp of ghee and perform Aarti, chant mantras and complete the vidhis.
Ganesh Sthapana Muhurat
This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 7th Semptember and will begin at 3:09 am 6th September and will continue till 5:37 pm 7th September.
Come, celebrate every single moment of this festive season, and witness the positive change in your life and Vastu this Ganesh Chaturthi. So, hurry up!! Charge yourself with the spirit of welcoming Lord Ganesha along with his abundant blessings, prosperity, good health, wisdom, and happiness in your life.

Such a beautifully written piece! Ganpati is one of my favourite times of the year – there is such joy in the air and if you live in Maharashtra, it just gets better! This time, I have decided to do most of my pooja shopping from The Maeva Store – this includes their incredible pooja box, diyas, floral rangolis, torans etc.
